Ms Blackler, who has more than 30 years of psychological experience, said: “Those figures will concern every leader who is wondering where they are going wrong, but they don’t have to define what happens next.
“Leading people does not have to feel harder than doing the job itself.
“The truth is most employees aren’t difficult; they’re all wired differently.
“Once you understand what’s going on beneath the surface and why people think, feel and behave the way they do, leadership starts to make so much more sense.”
She is the founder of coaching consultancy 2minds, which recently celebrated its 16th anniversary.
Ms Blackler said: “As 2minds recently celebrated its 16th anniversary, it felt like the right time to dedicate a whole book to the R.E.A.L. philosophy – the golden thread that runs through everything I do.”
The R.E.A.L. methodology Alison introduces in Get Real in Leadership is a neuroscience-backed approach designed to help leaders, managers and aspiring professionals navigate day-to-day human challenges.
Ms Blackler said: “In a simple, accessible way, this book brings together the most valuable insights I have gained from working with leaders, teams and organisations for nearly two decades.
“I believe it is my most important work yet – giving leaders a practical framework to disrupt the status quo, dig deeper and bring the unseen and unspoken into the light.”
Over the past year, Ms Blackler has joined the Professional Speaking Association and expanded her public speaking work, including chairing an NHS conference in London.
She will deliver the keynote speech at The NHS Workforce Transformation, Productivity & Staffing Conference in London next month.
