Sanyark Space, a space tech startup co founded by former Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) scientist Akhileshwar Reddy and Masters’ Union Cohort 3 student Raghava Kundrapu, has raised USD 2 million in a pre seed funding round led by Avaana and AUM Ventures. The startup will use the capital to develop its Navigation Communication (NAV-COM) satellite system and underlying technology.
Startup Raises Pre Seed Funding
Avaana invested USD 1.5 million in the round, while AUM Ventures contributed USD 500,000. The funding will support Sanyark’s development of a software defined low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite constellation designed to combine precision navigation and secure Internet of Things (IoT) communication on a single platform.
Sanyark is developing its NAV-COM system for both defence and commercial applications. The platform is intended to integrate navigation and communication capabilities within the same satellite constellation, supporting applications that require precision positioning and secure connectivity.
The startup said the funding will advance the NAV-COM system and its broader plans to develop space infrastructure for India. Its focus on combining navigation and communication capabilities is aimed at creating a single satellite based platform for multiple applications.
Student Entrepreneurship Drives Deeptech
Kundrapu, a member of Masters’ Union’s third cohort, co-founded Sanyark with Reddy, who previously worked as an ISRO scientist. The startup is developing satellite technology that combines navigation and communication capabilities within a low Earth orbit constellation.
The company’s NAV-COM system is being developed for applications across commercial and defence sectors, with a focus on precision positioning, navigation and secure IoT connectivity. The funding gives Sanyark capital to advance its satellite constellation and technology development as it works towards building strategic space infrastructure.
